We got asked in January if we would be willing to be Trek parents. To say we were reluctant would be an understatement. To be honest, I was actually quite bitter that we agreed to do it all the way up I was on Trek, mostly because we only had one of our kids old enough to be there and it was hard to take time off during the summer to do this instead of being as a family. But grateful that the younger three girls had so much fun in Montana with my parents. We didn't have to worry about them at all, and they had a blast without us. And Cameron and I really did enjoy spending time with the youth. It was so fun to get to know some great kids. And loved that no one had phones or distractions.
The actual trekking was easy. And I'm not just saying that. I think 95% of the people on trek would agree with me. We easily could have gone twice as far. They were constantly slowing us down so as not to get to camp too early and not having a plan.
The first 1.5-2 days were soooo windy. So windy. Like so windy we broke tents, couldn't even get some up, woke up with layers of dust on everything, and half the kids wouldn't even eat much food because the dust instantly covered it. The first night was actually quite miserable. But maybe in a very small way we could relate with the pioneers.
We got a great group of kids. We didn't know any of them prior to trek. Now we are excited to attend all their events this upcoming school year...we will have theater performances to attend, soccer games, and more!

And we would spot Aubrey here and there along the way.
She's a pretty cute pioneer!

These pictures are all out of order. Waiting to find out our family assignments before we left.
