Grandma's 80th Birthday

We were able to help host Grandma's 80th Birthday Party this past Saturday. My parents came into town and provided all the food, so we just got to enjoy all the company. The girls had fun decorating the house and getting ready and they couldn't wait for everyone to arrive.

It helped to have Grandma here to play with while we waited. They played lots of games with her.

Ben and Linda Lee sent flowers that arrived just in time.

Grandma was really touched and pleased with the party. It was fun to celebrate this milestone with her.

The girls also loved the attention that comes with extra people in the house.

Group picture. We ate delicious barbeque followed by lots of cake and ice cream.

And the girls couldn't wait for Grandma to open all her presents. And Grandma loved showing them everything she opened. She also got cards from all the other grandkids and great grandkids.

What a fun evening. We are lucky to be able to have Grandma and Grandpa Dalton live so close to us right now. Happy 80th Birthday Grandma!

Science Fair Project

The girls came home from school one day really excited about participating in the science fair. It is an optional thing for grades 1-3, so we decided we could do family project. We decided to make crystals out of Borax. It actually worked out really well.

We had to twist pipe cleaners together and hang them off pencils in canning jars.

Then we got a big pot of hot water and added Borax until it quit dissolving in the water.

We put food coloring in and then added the Borax solution. And they started to grow about an hour later!

If you look close you can see the growing crystals.

They turned out so pretty! And it only took a few hours to get fully grown crystals.

And here is their finished report. They did a great job.

Valentine's Day

A few days before Valentine's Day we decided we better make heart cookies. It was nice because we mixed up the batter the night before and put it in the fridge so the next day all we had to do was bake them and frost them. It was kind of nice to split up the mess and it was easier to have patience with the kids. The dough we used cut out so easily so that helped too.

Lots of helpers!

And lots of sugar and sprinkles.

Paige loves the cookies.

Finished product. So pretty!

Aubrey had to make her own Valentine's box for her class this year. She did it all by herself with the glue gun. It turned out great!

The night before Valentine's Day!

I have gotten in the habit of getting the girls a small present for Valentine's Day. So now they expect it! I found some great gifts this year. A new bank for Ada, material to make a pillow case for Aubrey, and some metal princess letters that spell out Penny's name.

And some new hats too! And it finally snowed again on Valentine's Day.

Paige trying out Aubrey's new hat.

And Ada's heart hair.

And Penny's heart hair.

Penny and I went out and made a huge snowman. She named him Cameron.

Ice Skating

I was able to take Aubrey and Ada ice skating at the new Ice Ribbon in downtown Spokane. We had a great time and they caught on pretty quick and were great skaters by the end of the evening. Cameron kept Penny and Paige at home for a movie night.

So fast! We have started making this a yearly tradition. Next year I think Penny will be able to tag along.

February Randoms

Ada got called to be Student of the Week! We got to color a special poster and she also got to bring Splat the Cat home for the week. We took Splat to Costco!

Reading to Paige

We had a nice Saturday morning in early February. It felt like Spring was on the way! We were able to walk up to the park and enjoy the morning.

Ada and Paige checking out the toys.

And Paige learned how to slide!

Ada in her new church dress I found her. She looked so cute.

Everyone got in the picture!

I let the girls invite a friend over one Friday evening. They had a blast and all played so well together. Ada with her friend Preslee.

Lots of girls playing dress up!

Aubrey and her best friend from school, Lilly.

Cute sisters one morning.

Paige fell off of a chair and hit the table leg one afternoon. She got a huge ugly bump. Poor girl.

The girls always like seeing these silly pictures of Daddy at work.

Checking out the potty.

Cameron finishing up a long run to get ready for his marathon at the end of the month.

Cameron had a day off one day and he and Penny went to the girls school to eat lunch with them.

Special day!

And Penny wanted to take a picture with this Indian.
