Ada Gets Her Ears Pierced!

Ada has wanted to get her ears pierced for a long time. But she has such a different personality than Aubrey. If you promise Aubrey something she will bug and bug and remind you constantly and we will eventually do it just so we can quit hearing about it. Ada is quiet and patient- and because of that we sometimes aren't as driven to get things done.

On Monday Cameron mentioned that he had thought about taking Ada to get her ears pierced on their date earlier in the month, but thought I might want to go too. So we decided to load everyone up in the car and just go and surprise her.

We drove to the mall and were just walking around and then walked into Claire's.We asked Ada if she wanted to get her ears pierced and she said yes and was ready! She jumped in the seat and was patient ans we figured out where to poke the holes.

She was so brave! She didn't even cry at all.

For the past few days she has been great about making sure we clean them twice a day. She still can't quite believe she has earrings now!

After the ear piercing we decided to go out to eat- the girls had the day off because of Martin Luther King Jr Day, and Cameron had most the day off as well, so we all kind of felt like we were on vacation.

We tried a buffet restaurant near us. The food was okay-but the kids loved it. They loved all the choices they had, and I can't complain when everyone ate well because they were able to try anything they wanted.

And they had an amazing selection of desserts. The cotton candy was the biggest hit.

It made for a fun night! I am sure we will be back again someday.

New Piano

I have been looking for a piano for months. Aubrey is especially anxious to start playing, and I would love to start playing a bit more myself. We finally came across this one that someone was selling near us. It is very out of tune, but the girls were all so excited.

Aubrey has already learned a song or two. The tuner wanted it to rest for a few weeks, but then we will be all set to learn and practice!

And just a cute pic!

New Year!

Here is just a mixture of a bunch of pictures to start off 2018! Annette and Jason gave us this cute little bench/bin when we moved here. I decided we should paint it black. So the girls helped pick the flower stickers off and sand it down.

Looks good! And matches our living room now.

Santa brought each of the girls a gift card to one of their favorite restaurants. We decided they should use them to take Daddy on a date. So we planned some days for each of them to get a special outing with Dad. Aubrey got to go to Panera Bread.

Penny got to go to Little Caesars and then to Krispy Kreme.

And Ada took Dad to Dairy Queen. She was especially excited about her Blizzard.

Cameron must have taken a pic of us lounging. Love it!

Paige is climbing all the time now. She loves the table. She can't quite get on the island yet-but I am sure that will come soon. No big falls yet. But she scares us!

Penny loves to play open presents with these boxes our neighbor gave us. She puts a different toy in each box and we take turns opening them. She could play all day.

Trying out some new Christmas presents! Our neighbors gave us this little car that their kids had outgrown. They gave it to us this fall-but it needed a new battery. So they finally got it for Christmas!

And the race cars were a big hit. And they laughed so hard when they accidentally crashed them into snow piles or launched them in the air or ran over each other.

Racing her car.

Popcorn and hot chocolate after playing outside.

Penny and I love story time. We even went twice in three days just because we need to get out of the house sometimes! One day she said she was going to write her name. I was busy with Paige so I said sure. I knew she could do a P and an E but I had no idea she could write her name. I was impressed. Pretty sure one of her sisters taught her.

Grinding wheat and making bread.

Penny wanted to make a snowman and a fort one day. Paige doesn't last too long in the snow-but we were able to keep her entertained long enough to finish the fort.

She loved it.

Drying her hair.

Wagon rides!

Our neighbor Mary had her sister make these amazing purses for each of the girls. We really have great neighbors in our cul-de-sac and feel very blessed.
