Fell in love with this picture when I saw it. Cameron must have snapped it this afternoon. I am loving the ages of our girls right now. They laugh and play together, share fairly well, will go into their room and play together for 15 minutes at a time (still hoping this number will go up), and overall loving each other. Yes, Aubrey screams at Ada when she doesn't want to share a chair, there is whining and crying, and overall we all feel a little cooped up this time of year. There is too much TV and movie watching. But we are making the most of life and looking forward to spring. Every time the sun comes out, Aubrey shouts, "Spring is here! The snow is melting!" Well... lets just say it will still be awhile.
Snack time!
Our downstairs neighbor Taylor, turns 4 this week and we went to her birthday party on Saturday. The girls love playing with their friends, and it was so nice to sit in one room and chat while the girls were fully entertained the whole time.
Smiling at cake time!
Sunday evening, Cameron headed to work at 5. Sometimes I dread this time from 5-8, but we had a wonderful evening. The girls enjoyed pudding from Kate and Jordan. They loved it and Aubrey kept laughing at Ada, who half the time would eat with her spoon, and half the time with her hands.
Aubrey hoping that Ada will share.
After pudding, Aubrey hid under a blanket and let Ada find her over and over. They laughed and laughed and laughed. We then went and changed the sheets on their beds and the next hour was spent jumping on the mattresses. I tried to sneak out of the room, but it is if my presence in their game makes all the difference. All I have to do is sit there and watch, and they will play for hours. Otherwise, I will leave and they are at my heels wondering what I am doing every two minutes.
We then chatted with my parents on the computer. Near the end, the girls wandered off and started entertaining themselves. On a side note, sometimes when Ada gets upset, she will run over to the bookshelf and start tossing books on the floor. Well, the girls were at the bookcase and were taking out each book and placing it on the floor. Having a fun time doing it. When I was finished talking to my parents, Aubrey and I started picking up the books, and I looked at Aubrey. She looked back at me and said, "We were just throwing a fit."
We finished the night with popcorn and cereal and baths.
I wouldn't have written all this, but as I lay in bed Sunday night trying to fall asleep, it was only then that I realized what a great night we had together.
On Monday we took the girls to the circus. I had been seeing advertisements and decided to just go for it. The girls loved it. Ada got so excited about all the animals: tigers, elephants, camels, horses, dogs, etc. She is definitely our animal girl. Aubrey loved the clowns. And all the sparkly outfits. Overall, it was an enjoyable afternoon.
The circus is an interesting experience. I spent half the time watching the performers and wondering about the lives they lead. They are certainly talented people, but it just seems like a hard life traveling and being with all those animals.
Watching the show.
More snow! We have had one storm after another, and another one coming tonight bringing at least a few more inches. We finally got outside when Cam left for work this afternoon, and the girls enjoyed the fresh air.
View from the sidewalk.
Stairs leading up to the snow.
Playing in the parking lot. Aubrey started pulling. Then she got in and I ran the girls around the parking lot. I knew I looked ridiculous, but that's what moms do to entertain their kids. And I swear every neighbor I knew was either coming home or heading out as I was running circles. I think they all think I am crazy!
Sleeping in the snow. We told Ada to close her eyes. She doesn't have that quite down yet. She took both of her snowy gloves and placed them over her eyes.
She even landed face first into the snow, stood up with a snow face, and waited patiently for me to wipe it off. She is such a pleasant, mild-mannered little girl!
