St. Patrick's Day

On St. Patrick's Day we decided to head to Coeur d'Alene for a swim. We headed mid morning and we always have fun in the pools!

Love these girls! We swam for a bit and then went and ate our packed lunch before checking out the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Trying to get a free hat from a truck coming their way.

Waiting for the parade in the rain.

The parade lasted less than 10 minutes. It was a lot of dogs, a couple llamas, a few trucks, and each girl got a couple pieces of candy. If we would have come to town purely for the parade we would have been disappointed. But it was a nice little bonus event before heading home.

Wiped out! We headed straight to an Elder's Quorum activity before heading home for a late dinner. Fun day!

And my 'new' sidekick. New as of St. Patrick's Day. Now I have had it 5 weeks. I ended up getting an MRI and they found a tear in the peroneal brevis tendon. Tomorrow is my next appointment. For 3.5 weeks it felt worse and not better. I am now maybe back to the point where it feels like it did before I got the boot. So I feel like it hasn't been much help. And I have had many tears and frustrations over it.  So hoping now I can ditch the boot and just cross train and be careful and pray that it will eventually heal on its own. Just ready to at least walk normally again! Surgery would be the next step but I am not ready to take that journey yet. We will see if I can get any more answers at my appointment tomorrow.

It better get better because I signed up for my first triathlon coming up in August. To keep my sanity while sitting around doing no exercise for the past 5 weeks I guess I just sign up for races!

Good Character Award

Aubrey won a special award at her school for displaying good character. Specifically Courtesy, Kindness, Respect, and Responsibility. They had a special assembly for all the kids who won awards. It was a surprise and Aubrey didn't know we were there until afterwards.

She was very excited. She gets her name in the kids newspaper in Spokane too!

And both girls loved showing off their baby sister to all their friends.

Great Gatsby Party

I got invited to attend a Great Gatsby 1920s party with a few of my girlfriends. Completely out of my comfort zone. I don't even dress up for Halloween. But thanks to Mom for lending me Grammy's old dress, I was able to dress up and play the part. We ate dinner and tried to figure out the murder mystery.

Continuing to make friends here in Spokane. It seems like it has taken longer than it did when we moved to California. But it is nice knowing we are here long term now.

Aubrey came into my room like this the next morning!

2nd Annual Harvey Ski Trip to the Cabin

We headed over to Montana for a long weekend with the plan to ski into the cabin. This year we decided to rent skis for Aubrey and Ada. They were so excited when Papa brought them home. They had to try them on right away!

Of course when you have a trip planned someone is bound to get sick. When we loaded up and drove over we knew Paige had a fever. We were hoping it would just pass over with lots of rest. But she didn't feel great all weekend. I think we can now say with confidence that she had Hand, Foot, Mouth. She slept horribly for two nights before we figured out she was itchy.

It ended up working out in our favor a bit because she slept while we skied into the cabin and the way back (at least 1.5 each way). Which made for a more enjoyable trip all around.

Penny rode in the sled and was a happy camper the whole time. Last year there wasn't a lot of snow on the ice so Cameron could spin the kids around and run. This year the snow was deep and harder to ski and pull sleds in. So it was just a ride across the lake for her.

Just getting started!

Beautiful day. Warm enough that we didn't freeze too much.

Always so gorgeous. We are so lucky to have a place like this.

Warming up!

We spent a few hours at the cabin warming up, eating lunch, and playing games.

While we were at the cabin in started pouring rain. And then hail. We were worried about the ski back and how miserable we would be with the girls in that weather. We tried to wait it out a bit, but by 4 we knew we had to get going or it would start getting dark.

Bundling up!

All ready to go. We were expecting a lot of complaining and whining on the way back. So we promised them a special treat if we had no whining or tears until we got back to car. Once we got to the car they were allowed to cry. And Penny did. Ha. They earned themselves a donut! Seriously they were all incredible the whole way back. And Paige surprised us and slept the whole time again.

Skiing in the snowstorm. Luckily it was light, fluffy snow and pretty warm.

Such a good sport.

Starting back.

Here we go!

And of course we needed a family pic!

So snowy.

We were all covered when we got back to the car.

Especially Penny! She thought it was so funny that when her feet got cold Cameron put his gloves on her feet. But she said it worked!

Our girls were so proud of themselves!

Got home and watched a show and relaxed. Watched the raccoons eat bird seeds. We were preparing to repeat the trip the next day, and it was supposed to be beautiful.

We finished the glow in the dark puzzle Mom bought for the girls. They thought it was magical!

By the next morning Aubrey had a fever, and Penny. And Paige was getting the rash on her mouth, hands, and feet.

We weren't sure what our plan would be.

Aubrey trying out Grandma's phone.

We took it easy for a bit, but it was a gorgeous bluebird day and we just had to get out and enjoy it. We drove towards the Swan and went skiing and sledding.

Lots of sledding. And the most beautiful winter day.

The girls skied a bit. Ada made a snowman. We started having sledding contests to see who could go the furthest and win the gold.

And Paige slept the entire time. Poor girl.

Cameron skiing.

The group!

Aubrey took a short nap in the middle of playing, but overall I was glad everyone felt well enough to enjoy the day for the most part.

Such a sweetie.

Until next time! We will be back next year to try to do it all again.
