We were able to get over to Montana again for a long weekend. We left Thursday afternoon and were able to stay until Sunday. We were excited that Swan Lake was still frozen over. On Friday we loaded up the car to at least take the girls to walk on the lake. We threw in cross country skis, a sled, and snowshoes just in case we thought we could make it in to the cabin.
And we had a blast. Aubrey kept saying, "This is the best day ever!" And really, I couldn't agree more. No people, sun shining, me cross country skiing while Paige happily slept, Cameron pulling the girls on the sled and spinning them as they laughed and laughed. Warming up at the cabin by the fire, some sledding, and happy girls the whole time!
Penny loved her sled ride. Her feet got a bit cold, but other than that she loved it all.
Cameron would run and spin the girls in circles so fast. A couple of times I thought they would all fall off.
This day will always be a fond memory for me. Hopefully we can make it a yearly tradition- if the weather cooperates.
Almost to the cabin!
The girls unlocking the door all by themselves.
Warming up!
Paige was a pretty happy girl. She did refuse to drink a cold bottle though so we had to melt some snow on the stove and warm it up.
Snuggles.
Getting the toes warm!
We left our sled at the point- but a black trash bag worked just as well. This was a perfect sledding hill.
About to head back.
Family picture
And we had to grab a few pictures on the ice with the river in the background.
What a fun day! Next year we will need 2 sleds.
That evening my parents had some raccoon visitors that the girls loved.
On Saturday we relaxed, Cam & I got out on a run, the girls played a lot of checkers, we went bowling (and of course took no pictures), and then Cameron and I were able to get out on a date to the movies and dessert. Thanks Mom & Dad.
What a fun visit.
